About

The site of Elias Beeckman Kazerne is a connecting link between the forest and the city of Ede. At this unique location, NEXIT, together with Veenenbos en Bosch landscape architects and Ter Steege Bouw & Vastgoed Ontwikkeling, designed very recently a plan with 3 robust residential buildings for 128 apartments. The forest forms the bedding for the landscape integration of the ensemble and also provides a valuable and leafy living atmosphere that is extended into the underground parking garage. In the middle of a 'forest carpet' with Scots pine, birch, currants and another regional vegetation, arise the sand-coloured building blocks with partly natural wood facades. They connect the plan with the character of the Veluwe. Unfortunately we did not win the tender, but that makes us no less proud of the result of this inspiring collaboration.
