About

NEXIT designed sixteen all-electric homes for the project Groot-Luchen in Brabants suburban community of Geldrop-Mierlo. The design consists of eight ground-level homes for above sixty year-olds as well as eight mid-priced rental family homes. The design employs simple and clear cut volumes with elementary detailing and a visual reference to rural architecture. Timber facades and sheet metal roofing support this expression. The two-bedroom homes for the older inhabitants boast one on the ground floor and one on the easily accessible upper level. It makes them ideal for those who have limited mobility or are dependent on wheel chairs as well as for sixty-plus folk who prefer a bedroom with bathrooms on the upper floor. All homes will be non-gas and all-electric. We introduced a Solar Park in between the two strips of housing which, employing ‘smart-grid’ technology will harvest sufficient electricity for the infra-red heating in all homes. Individual bicycle sheds for are arranged beneath the barn-like structure of the Solar Park.
